Las Vegas

Well after the joys of LA we hopped into our motor and headed off to Vegas. Fully loaded with a McDonalds Meal - can I supersize that sir? no god damn it thats why yer all so fat !!

We headed for wonderland. My good buddy Joey had his stag do there last year and I was itching for a piece of the action. We hit the cruise control and 3 hours later we were in Town. What can I say. First impressions, just amazing. We cruised down the strip past all the amazing casinos. Man I've been here on so many films and holiday programmes it was just sweet driving by and taking it all in.

We parked up and went into the Golden Nugget Hotel. I'm grinning, another Four Seasons moment. After check in we wandered toward the lifts, a lady asks us kindly " have you picked up your free gifts" no I reply like someone about to get suckered, I say with a smile "Theres no such thing as a free lunch" she laughed and handed us over to another smooth talker. I'm gonna give you $100 dollars of free chips bla bla bla before trying to blag us onto some crummy time share thing. We make our excuses and head up to the 30th floor. Wow what a view and real comfy room, yippee lets go gamble!!

A great moment, after 9 months we meet Diane's dad Ralph at the airport. Just great to have Ralph join us. I knew Diane was so looking forward to it. Our little ol US road trip could begin

Sights and sounds of Vegas. Impossible to capture the atmosphere and sheer scale of it all.














Look at those lovely chips. Fair play, me and Diane are hardly high rollers, after skulking around like criminals for an hour we plucked up courage to stick a few bucks in a fruit machine. I'm like "God Diane we have to pull ourselves together and go on the black jack or something, this is ridiculous, we're in Vegas!!" It was comedy. We had 2 lessons on the craps table and knew less than when we started !! Undaunted we head for a black jack lesson and our first time at the table. We find a table with no one on it. I sheepishly announce it's my first time to the croupier. "I'm as green as the grass" and can she "go easy on me"!! Dianes loving this. I change $100 into chips, cool, now feeling like Kerry Packer, get a JDnC for courage. Well, with a considerable amount of help from our lovely dealer I'm sitting on $200 bucks. I ask for some advice at this point and she tells me that the mistake most people make is staying on the table too long :) I smiled and cashed in. We walked away like the cats that got the cream meeee owwwwwww :) Me an Di chests puffed out am in arm strolling of fto bed, great night out at the Golden Nugget.

Oh that road, the one no one can pronounce yes we'll be there in 5 !! Heh I've got an idea, why not just bloody well rename it !!

Hollywood and Beverley Hills, LA

Cruising around the Hollywood hills star spotting. Great big steaks and a fantastic concert at the Hollywood bowl. Dedicated to Henri Mancini we packed a picnic and some beers. A real treat and a great night out; he was responsible for such classics as The Pink Panther and Moon River, the night finished with a firework display set to music, magic.

Venice Beach, LA

I can do geek, no worries :) (What is a worry Jonny is that you're such a natural!) I never said that, Diane's been sneaking onto the blog again, crafty gonna have to keep an eye on her !!




Venice Beach, home of body builders and skaters, also a fair few hippies that never got over the sixties, sadly I think they smoked just a little bit too much dope.







This was a Sunday and everyone was out and about. Great atmosphere here with plenty of side stalls and stuff going on. Not that you would know from this non descript picture :)

Well hmm not sure what to write ...

Man, I just can't get away from the steak, it's just fantastic, lovely New York Strip cooked medium. Check out the shirt, £2.50 from Tesco Lotus Koh Samui, Thailand :) Not that I'm cheap or anything!!

There we are, the Hollywood Hills, where dreams are made and lost ! Seems strange sitting here blogging when I'm back home in the UK.

Universal Studios - LA

Well we hit the States at last and a nice 3 week road trip before heading home to Blighty. We had a great hotel right on the walk of fame. Los Angeles was excellent fun; a trip to Jonny Rockets for hambugers n shakes and walking up and down the strip.



Well there's a kid in all of us just bustin to get out. Universal Studios LA is great, here I am sat on Arnies bike out of Terminator, get in !

Scenes from the waterworld film set. You know that big fat turkey of a flop Kevin Costner had the misfortune to star in. Cool yeah ? Costner with gills didn't cut it for me, it was crap, this was brilliant and right in front of your nose, smoke, fire bombs and jet skis and water flying everywhere.

Outside the Hard Rock Cafe with some good friends Elaine, Mark and the kids Daniel and Eliza. Brilliant that they were in LA on holiday at the same time. Air guitars at the ready lets head in for some lip smackin junk food!!
