Ko Tao - Jonny, Diane and Kev

Well we finally got to Ko Samui after a flight into Surathani and a hop on the Ferry. The plan was that Diane would have a week of relaxation on Ko Samui and I would head to Ko Tao for a catch up with my old mate, Kev.

On and off, I spent 2 years as a Scuba Diving Instructor on Ko Tao. I was gonna go straight to Ko Tao but it was too late. It worked out well though cause I was able to give Di the tour of town.

We hopped on a songthaew taxi and headed where else, Chaweng beach. I remember when the first Mcdonalds opened there and we would come over and head straight for a Big Mac, forget all that thai rubbish, gimme a maccy deeeeee :)

View down Chaweng beach with the beach hawkers selling grilled fish and corn on the cob.

Following day I headed over to the rock. Nice sitting on the boat with a can of Chang and day dreaming away. Sorted out a bit of accomodation and headed straight to 'Tuk Ta' restaurants for the most pukka Pad Thi Gai around. Fully upgraded it's a spicy little number :)

Met my good buddy Kev on Tao and we shared a few buckets and a couple of dives on Chumpon Pinnacles. Nice but damn cold with a shorty wetsuit below 20m underwater. Watta woosey I've become :)
Di joined us after 3 days and we partied out for a couple of nights before leaving.

What the hell do I look like :) I'm waiting for Diane so I can give her a big hug, only 3 days apart but sure great to see her face on the boat.

Now for me the Tuk Ta Pad Thai is as good as it gets. Nice egg over the top. Put on the chillies in fish sauce, chillie flakes and a few other bits n bobs. Mix it all up and get stuck in. After some 5 years the Guy in the restaurant still shook my hand like it was yesterday.

Fire dancers on the beach. Gotta say they were pretty good

Ahh the famous bucket. Bottle of Sam Song Rum, bottle of Red Bull, can of coke or sprite. Tip in a bucket of ice grab a straw and prepare to lose 4 hours of your life with absolutely no chance of memory recall :) !!!

Going going gone, 4 buckets later we were all in the ocean, swimming in the moonlilght. God bless the bucket and all who drink it :) Not sure when i,ll have another but this was for all my old buddies wherever they may be cheers :) and cheers to kev (looks like he's mainlinin that bucket), was great to meet up bud and good luck with the TEFL course !!

If we were gonna buy a place in the sun this would be it. Looking down on Sairee beach. This is the view from the living room of a nearly completed bungalow. Reached from the road that goes past the restaurant with a whale skeleton in the garden, most bizarre.

Whatever you do jonny just smile and pretend its not happening :) There maybe a little bad language in this video but i think i can be forgiven :)
